AYM NOTES for November 4, 2007

High School Retreat Cancelled
We cancelled the retreat because there was not enough interest and too many conflicts with schedules. Hopefully we can ESCAPE for 24 hours on the weekend of December 1-2. We hope to do something soon together. It's imortant for our group for us to get out of town together.

Essential Truth Curriculum
The 7th-12th graders are diving into a Sunday morning study of “Essential Truth.” You may still purchase your student handbook for only $5. This handbook will guide the students in daily Bible reading & in Life Groups through the first of January. This morning’s theme is “How do we respond to God?”


Special Sunday chapel class Nov. 11
Next Sunday night in the Chapel at 6 p.m., Gil Sanchez, director of Casa de la Esperanza in Chihuahua, Mexico, will be our guest speaker. Many parents, teens and others who have been involved with Alpine’s mission effort at the orphanage over the last three years will be excited to hear Gil speak about the history of this ministry, needs and future plans for a possible medical mission.

Youth Workers meeting Today!
Today we will meet during lunch in The LOFT. Make sure you are there if you are teaching or leading a class or group.

BASKETBALL LEAGUE
This year we will have a 16u team Sign up in The LOFT by Sunday, October 28! Cost will be about $30, and games will begin after the Christmas break on Saturdays.

Encounter Exchange
7th-9th graders will continue our “Journey with Jesus” this Wednesday night as we go On Location to Mt. Everest! The Loft will be open from 6:30-8:00. Bring money for nachos, candy, & drinks from 6:30-7:00. Bring your Bible as we hike through God’s word from 7:00-8:00.

Reach Groups
Our groups meet at the Perry’s (111 Castlegate) and at the Alexander’s (800 Eden Drive) again this week. Arrive by 6:45 so we can eat some snacks, get Episode 5 started, and dig for God’s truth about the Gospel Journey.

Middle School Retreat
The 7th-9th graders are looking forward to another exciting retreat at the Dowdy’s ranch this Saturday & Sunday, November 10th-11th. Cost for the retreat is $30 per person. Please pay Melissa today! Friends are welcome! We will meet in the Alpine parking lot November 10th at 9:30 am & return to Alpine Sunday by noon. Things to Bring: 2 Liter soft drink, sleeping bag, camo clothes, overnight toiletries, towels, warm & comfortable clothes, & Bible.

Save the Date for LTC!
LTC 2008 is March 21-22. For most everyone, this is the last weekend of Spring Break. An LTC interest meeting is scheduled for December 2nd at 9:00 am in the LOFT to discuss student & coach participation & important dates leading up to LTC. If your child is planning to participate in the convention or pre-convention events, or if you are an interested coach, please attend the meeting on Dec. 2nd!
